Representations

The planning system provides many opportunities for representations to be made to the local authority and the Secretary of State in many matters, such as emerging planning policies, planning applications, the designation of Conservation Areas and highway schemes. Ashley Grantham Smith represents a broad spectrum of clients in these areas, including groups of local residents as well as individual property or landowners and businesses. One particularly important type of representation concerns the development of planning policies. This process is complex and takes several years to complete. Representations can only be made at certain stages - if the opportunity is missed then the consequences for land and property owners can be severe. Clients involved with wider issues - Footpath Diversion Orders and the formal designation of footpaths for instance - are also advised and represented by us. Our representations are carefully prepared to take account of all the issues involved and in close consultation with our clients.
